Background

From a young age, I’ve had a deep sense of justice — an instinctive need to stand up for those without a voice. Early in my legal career, I saw firsthand how power can distort the truth. As an Assistant District Attorney, one of my first cases involved a “resisting arrest” charge. When I reviewed the then-rare body-cam footage, it revealed that the officer had fabricated the story to hide his own misconduct. That case shaped me profoundly. It taught me that injustice can exist anywhere power goes unchecked, and it solidified my purpose: to turn over every stone in the pursuit of truth and to defend those who might otherwise be crushed by larger forces.

Over sixteen years of practice, I’ve represented countless Texans through some of their darkest and most difficult moments — whether facing criminal accusations, catastrophic injury, or civil rights violations. My mission remains the same as it was that first day: to fight with relentless honesty, skill, and compassion for those who need it most.

Professional Journey

Erik began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas, where he quickly established a reputation for thorough preparation and fearless advocacy. After leaving the DA’s office, he co-founded Franzoni & Nelson, where for more than a decade he led high-stakes litigation across Texas in both criminal and civil courts. He later became a founding partner of Franzoni Nelson & Robinett, broadening his practice to include major personal-injury, medical-malpractice, and civil-rights cases.

Now a Partner at The Atlas Law Firm, Erik brings over 16 years of trial experience and a 75% courtroom win rate, with verdicts and settlements exceeding multiple millions — including a $6.8 million judgment for a client who lost his leg after being struck by a drunk driver. His work has been featured on Channel 5 News’ “Drained” investigation and on the television program Reasonable Doubt, highlighting his skill in navigating sensitive, high-profile matters.

Erik’s colleagues and clients describe him as a fighter with integrity — a lawyer who blends old-school courtroom grit with a modern understanding of evidence, technology, and human empathy.
